Sufi Light In Houston
The Museum of Fine Arts Houston is hosting an exhibition entitled ‘Light of the Sufis: The Mystical Arts of Islam’. Curated by Francesca Leoni and realized by Ladan Akbarnia, the exhibition features miniatures, calligraphy, objects, poems, photographs and contemporary art, all illustrating Islam’s mystical belief system dating back to the 9th century
Among the items exhibited, which were culled from several Islamic museums and private collections, are photographs from Mehmet Günyeli’s 2007 series, ‘Dervishes / The Dance of Belief’. August 8th is the last day for this exhibition of more than 50 objects. For details: www.mfah.org
