Mediterranean Artists In Istanbul
Istanbul is hosting artists, designers, instructors and students from the Mediterranean at the 10th Mediterranean Art Schools Meeting, which brings together thirty institutions of higher learning in the Mediterranean Basin offering instruction in art for a series of workshops, informal chats and exhibitions. The participants, who share cultural similarities from the past, will work together in Istanbul for a week to leave a permanent mark through the works they create. Based on the theme, ‘Sea, Soil and Turquoise’ the art works produced will be displayed at Mimar Sinan University of the Fine Arts (MSGSÜ) and Tophane-i Amire Culture and Art Center.
Among the cities taking part in the meeting, which is being realized in conjunction with Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture, are: Aix-en-Provence, Alexandria, Algiers, Amman, Ankara, Aubagne, Batna, Beirut, Damascus, Erzurum, Eskişehir, Genoa, Istanbul, Izmir, Lisbon, Marseilles, Mostaganem, Ramallah, Salonica, Sarajevo, Seville, Split, Tetuan, Tirana, Toulon, Tunis and Venice.
