The Vikings Journey To Istanbul
The legendary journey to Istanbul made exactly 1130 years by the Vikings is now in the Magic Ice Museum.
There is a new address you can include when you are making your weekend excursion program in Istanbul: the Magic Ice Museum. The museum’s opening theme is the legendary journey to Istanbul said to have been made by the Vikings exactly 1130 years ago. Some scenes from the Viking journey are portrayed in the museum which hosts an exhibition of statues made by Scandinavian sculptors. Just a few of those that should be seen are animal statues, a Viking house, a huge Viking ship and the Viking World Map.
THE POLES ARE IN ISTANBUL
Two hundred tons of ice was used in the museum which opened it doors in recent months at the Forum Istanbul. While the blue ice was brought from the Torne River in Sweden’s Jukkasjarvi region, the ice and snow on the walls is from Turkey. Inspired by the idea of reconstructing in a closed area the poles which are independent of seasons and endure 365 days a year, the museum can be visited wearing special Eskimo outfits. Promising to provide a polar atmosphere in an area that has been cooled to -5 degrees, the museum will change its exhibition concept every six months.
