"Sultans Of Poetry" At Istanbul Airport
‘Sultans of Poetry’, an exhibition of poems by 23 Ottoman sultans collected by Prof. Dr. İskender Pala, has opened in the International Departures Lounge GAV Gallery at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport.
Prof. Dr. İskender Pala, who spoke at the opening, emphasized the point that the Middle Ages were a time when the word reigned supreme. Pala said “The reason why they set aside the time for poetry among all that bureaucracy, governance, and wars was in order to combine the power of poetry with the power of the government and to literally transform it into a victory.” The exhibition, backed by SKYLIFE magazine, Turkish Airlines and TAV Airports Holding, includes English and Arabic translations of poems penned by the Ottoman sultans.
