SUSPENDED SOME TEN YEARS AGO, TURKİSH AİRLİNES HAVE RESUMED ISTANBUL-THESSALONİKİ FLİGHTS.
The inaugural flight was dubbed TK 1881 to commemorate the birth date of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, founder of the Turkish Republic, who was born in the city.
"Ataturk founded Turkish Airlines in 1933 as a gift to the nation. Now we are striving to make it the biggest star in the sky." said Turkish Airlines CEO, Temel Kotil, Ph.D. Turkish Airlines' Istanbul-Thessaloniki- Istanbul flights will be four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
According to the flight timetable, the Thessaloniki flights will depart from Istanbul at 10 a.m., arrive in Thessaloniki at 11:25 a.m., depart again at 12:25 p.m. and arrive in Istanbul at 1:45 p.m. Reduced fares will be available until March 31, 2012, starting from 164 Euros Istanbul- Thessaloniki return (all taxes and fees included).
Turkish Airlines CEO Temel Kotil Ph.D. saw off inaugural flight TK 1881 with flowers. Among the passengers on board was Hamdi Topçu, Chairman of Turkish Airlines' Board of Directors and the Executive Board, who remarked that with the addition of Thessaloniki the airline now flies to 178 destinations around the world.
