AUTUMN IS IDEAL FOR DIVING IN TURKEY, A DIVERS’ PARADISE WITH ITS UNDERWATER SIGHTS AND CLEAR WATERS. HERE ARE FIVE DIVING SUGGESTIONS FOR EVERYONE FROM AMATEUR TO PRO.
1 KAŞ
There are 25 diving points near Kaş located 15 to 45 minutes from the harbor. A favorite among them is Uçak Batık (Plane Wreck). Making your way through the underwater tunnels is exciting.
2 SARIGERME
Home to Turkey’s deepest underwater caves, it boasts colorful coral reefs that deepen in stages as well as countless fish and invertebrates.
3 BODRUM
Suitable for diving most of the year, this region is rich in underwater plankton. Amphorae, sunken ships, sponge beds and a variety of underwater creatures are among the things you can see.
4 FETHİYE
Be prepared for a pleasant surprise at every moment in the waters of Fethiye, open to diving 12 months of the year. Reef and wall diving are done as well in this region which boasts Mediterranean corals.
5 GÖKÇEADA
There are several diving points on this island, home to Turkey’s first underwater national park. A good choice especially for viewing sunken warships and sea creatures.
DIVING INSTRUCTION
Turkey has a large number of diving schools. Following theoretical instruction, you start practicing in pools. The first exercises are then repeated in shallow waters. Upon successful completion of the underwater dives, you are awarded a diving certificate.
