What Lurks Behind The Door?
What Lurks Behind The Door?
ON YOUR STROLLS AROUND ISTANBUL YOU’VE CERTAINLY COME ACROSS DOORS BEHIND WHICH YOU THOUGHT SOMETHING MYSTERIOUS WAS LURKING. NOW THOSE DOORS ARE OPENING WIDE, OCTOBER 1 TO 9.
The second Open Door Architecture Festival, the first of which took place last year with contributions by the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency, is offering Istanbulites an opportunity to explore some distinguished structures that are normally not open to visitors or require special permission. You have just 10 days to tour more than forty buildings, among them Yenikapı Mevlevi Lodge, Selimiye Barracks, Phanar Greek Patriarchate, and Göztepe Şahkulu Dervish Lodge.
SAPPHIRE VIEWING TERRACE
A spectacular venue for viewing Istanbul, Sapphire Viewing Terrace can be toured October 3 to 7 as part of the Open Door Architectural Festival. Reduced admission for architects and architecture students.
OFFICES OPEN TOO
Leading Istanbul architectural firms like Tabalıoğlu Mimarlık, Emre Arolat Mimarlık, Teğet Mimarlık and Brigitte Weber are also opening their offices to visitors during the festival.
