MİMAR SİNAN UNIVERSITY OF THE FINE ARTS IS HOSTING AN EXTRAORDINARY EXHIBITION AT TOPHANE-I AMIRE CULTURAL CENTER.
Opening on November 15, Dunhuang: Magical Gateway to the Silk Road runs through January 7. Part of 2012 Chinese Culture Year in Turkey, the exhibition brings to Istanbul unparalleled works of art from China’s Dunhuang Caves, which have been listed as a World Cultural Heritage. Chinese Treasures, featuring five of China’s immortal terracotta warriors, is also on at Topkapı Palace Museum through February 23.
A NEW PLAY IN THE CITY
The Kenter Theater is premiering one of its new plays, Toplu Hikayeler, in December. Directed by Kadriye Kenter, the play is being staged for the first time on December 7.
WORLD CINEMA COMES TO ANATOLIA
Mounted with contributions by the Ankara Cinema Society, the Traveling Festival kicked off in Ankara on November 30. Continuing there through December 7, it is in Sinop December 7 to 10, bringing audiences outstanding examples of world cinema from countries as far afield as South Korea and Chile.
