1YAĞMUR ADAM (RAIN MAN)
A modern classic about the nature and reality of autism. The money-grubbing Charlie sets out with his autistic elder brother to claim the family inheritance but by the end of the journey remembers love and his long-forgotten values.

2 TEMMUZDA (IM JULI)
An extremely riveting and entertaining film by director Fatih Akın. In love with a Turkish girl by the name of Melek (Angel), Daniel, a teacher in Germany, sets out for Istanbul. Swept along from adventure to adventure, he rediscovers himself on the journey. 

3 ÖZGÜRLÜK YOLU (INTO THE WILD)
You may find yourself on the road after watching this film. Deciding to hitchhike to Alaska after his college graduation, Chris, who likes being on the road more than actually getting there, meets up with some unexpected surprises in a small American town.

Stephane sets out from France for Romania to find a lost musician by the name of Nora Lurca with an old cassette as his only clue. The young man’s life is changed when he encounters Isidore while traveling through the villages.

5 YUMURTA (THE EGG)
The first film of director Semih Kaplanoğlu’s Yusuf trilogy, The Egg is the story of a middle-aged poet who sets out for a small town on the Aegean upon news of his mother’s death. The childhood memories and slow rhythms of provincial life he encounters along the way open new windows of understanding in the poet’s life.

American Jesse and French student Celine meet on a train from Budapest to Vienna and enjoy the best moments of their lives during the journey. Every step taken by this couple in love is like an invitation to travel. Filmed in stunning urban landscapes, the film is known for its witty dialogue.

7 DÖNÜŞ (THE RETURN)
A brilliant road film set in rural Russia. Young Russian director Andrei Zvyagintsev, who has been compared with his world-renowned compatriot Tarkovsky, tells the strange story of two brothers who set out on a holiday with their father in this 2003 production.

8 PARİS, TEKSAS (PARIS, TEXAS)
A near-legend in the annals of film, Paris, Texas is a road drama by director Wim Wenders. Taking his son Hunter with him, Travis hits the road to look for the wife who abandoned them four years ago. Their sole aim is to find out why Jane could have left home.

In its 47th year, the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival runs through July 7. The festival, held in an historic spa town two hours  from Prague, stands out for its wide selection of films.
