Turkey’s First Desert Marathon
Turkey’s First Desert Marathon
Bringing the desert marathon concept to Turkey, Runfire Cappadocia will take place in Cappadocıa July 7 to 15.
Totaling over 200 kilometers with a leg to be run every day for six days, Runfire Cappadocia will pass through Uçhisar, Güvercinlik Vadisi, Ortahisar, Acıgöl, Damsa Gölü, Yüksek Kilise, Güzelyurt, Ürgüp, Göreme, Avanos, Ihlara Vadisi and Tuz Gölü (Salt Lake) in Turkey’s famed land of fairy chimneys. The route climbs to elevations of 1700 meters as well as descending 900 meters on this marathon which starts and ends in Uçhisar.
Athletes who complete Runfire Cappadocia, which is accredited by Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc, one of the world’s most elite and prestigious mountain marathons, will receive the four points awarded for high degree of difficulty, thus earning the chance to race in major marathons around the world.
