Welcome
Welcome
Dear Guests,
There is a well-established and meaningful custom in the Black Sea region, Karadeniz: A tree is planted for every newborn, and this tree grows along with the child. Whenever I go to Rize, where I was born, I visit the pear tree planted for me and contemplate on how fast time passes by and how transitory life on this world is.
As an environmentally responsible airline, Turkish Airlines is initiating a meaningful project embracing this tradition while contributing towards a better world. We are planting a tree for every infant aged 0-2 who travels with Turkish Airlines. With this project - realized in cooperation with the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs - children from Turkey, Africa, Europe, America, and Asia from the 200 destinations in our network, will each have a planted tree. Perhaps these children will one day visit the trees which will have reached tenfold their heights.
You can also contribute to this meaningful project, and support our efforts to make Earth a better place to live in by participating in this joint campaign. We invite you to plant a tree for only 5 TL by texting “THY” to 1923, which can be sent from any GSM operator in Turkey.
This project is an important step in Turkish Airlines’ goal to become a Green Airline. Keeping flight safety and security as our priority, we are working hard to develop environmental policies and use natural resources efficiently, in order to leave a more habitable environment for future generations. Within these efforts, we are applying fuel saving measures that are decreasing our carbon emissions. One of our group companies, Turkish Technic, has been awarded the Green Company award by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of Turkey. We pay extra attention to energy conservation and environmental issues in our facilities, and strive to become an effective player in making the world a more livable place.
Dear Guests,
As the 2012 Sports Capital of Europe, Istanbul will host another important event: the finals of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague, one of the most important Basketball leagues, will take place in Istanbul 11th to 13th May 2012. We wish all the teams the best of luck, and would like to invite you to take a part in this excitement. We would also like to congratulate the winning cyclists in the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey, presented by Turkish Airlines, and organized by the Office of the President of the Republic of Turkey.
I would like to thank you all for choosing Turkish Airlines and wish you a pleasant flight.
Sincerely yours,
Temel Kotil, Ph.D.
