Sport Is Uniting The Continents
Awarded a Gold Label by the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations), the Eurasia Marathon will be linking the continents through sport on November
11. The event, which gives a broad mass of people the chance to engage in sport with 15- kilometer and 8-kilometer runs as well as a people’s walk all on the same day, is expected to be even more colorful this year thanks to Istanbul’s being 2012 European Capital of Sports as well as its candidacy for the 2012 Olympics.
In a recent announcement, the Mayor of Metropolitan Istanbul, Dr. Kadir Topbaş, said: “Istanbul is a city experienced in the hosting international sports events. One of those events is the long-standing Intercontinental Istanbul Eurasia Marathon. For years, all Istanbulites, young and old, women and men alike, have been banding together to run in the Eurasia Marathon.”
The Eurasia Marathon, whose route joins two continents, will again in 2012 be issuing its call for peace and friendship to the whole world.
