Welcome To Salon
Attracting attention for its far from mainstream avant-garde and Indie music concerts, the Istanbul foundation of culture and art’s (IKSV) salon is kicking off the new season in October.
Salon has been adding color to the Istanbul concert scene ever since the opening of the Foundation’s new building at Şişhane. The English electronic-pop band Saint Etienne is opening the 2012-2013 season with concerts on October 4 and 5. Following that, Esmerine, formed by Bruce Crawdon, drummer for Canada’s legendary post-rock band Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and Rebecca Foon of Thee Silver Mt. Zion, will be awaiting post-rock fans on the 12th and 13th.
October’s last event is a concert on the 19th and 20th to be given by a team composed of Nils Frahm, student of Tchaikovsky’s last student Nahum Brodski, and the Icelandic Ólafur Arnalds and A Winged Victor For The Sullen. Salon is gearing up this season to appeal to the eyes as well as the ears with leading representatives of the indie and avant-garde music movement.
