First Flight  To Houston
Turkish Airlines made its first flight to Houston, its 5th flight destination in the U.S., on April 1st. Prior to the flight, a meeting was held at the airline’s corporate headquarters with Economy Minister Zafer Çağlayan, Turkish Airlines’ Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee Hamdi Topçu, Turkish Airlines’ President and CEO Temel Kotil, Ph.D., and Board Member and Turkish Exporters’ Association President Mehmet Büyükekşi in attendance. The Houston route was opened and Turkey’s March export figures were announced at the meeting. Following the meeting Çağlayan, Topçu and Büyükekşi flew to Houston on the airline’s inaugural flight. The delegation was welcomed in Houston by the Mayor of Houston, Annise Parker.
