A Historic Agreement

Turkish Airlines has signed off on the largest aircraft purchase in Turkish civil aviation history.

Turkish Airlines, which entered the ranks of the world’s most notable airlines with its growth rates, has signed off on the largest aircraft purchase in Turkish civil aviation history. The signing ceremony for the 117-aircraft purchase from Airbus was held by Turkish Airlines at its VIP Meeting Hall on April 17. Minister of Finance Mehmet Şimşek; Minister of Transportation, Seafaring, and Communications Binali Yıldırım; Turkish Airlines Executive Committee and Board of Directors Chairman Hamdi Topçu; Turkish Airlines President and CEO Temel Kotil, PhD; members of Turkish Airlines' Board of Directors and Airbus President and CEO Fabrice Brégier attended the ceremony.


In the speech he delivered at the ceremony, Hamdi Topçu said, “The signature we will place today will carry Turkish Airlines toward its targets for 2023, the centennial of our Republic. Through this agreement, Turkish Airlines is taking one more step to becoming Europe’s greatest.” The total number of aircraft in Turkish Airlines’ fleet is expected to reach 375 by the end of 2020.
