City Guide : OsloArising as the composition of natural wonderlands, lakes (about 343) and 40 islands in the fjord, Oslo is the capital of Norway. The city is placed at the head of Oslo Fjord, a bay in the southeast of Norway. Oslo is the seat of Norwegian Government, the Parliament and the Royal Palace. In winter and summer, the city is packed with paradoxes. Having about 100 km coast with the bay and huge lands of forests near to the city center, Oslo is a natural and watery city. The Vigeland sculpture park (Vigelandsparken) is one of the most visited attractions of Norway. This sculpture park harbors the 200 granite, bronze and cast iron sculptures made by Gustov Vigeland.

This fascinating museum is home to three Viking ships from the diggings at the Oslofjord region. Made of oak in the 9th century, these ships are splendid and the best examples of Viking ships.
National Gallery (Nasjonalgalleriet) has the largest collection of Norwegian, Nordic and international art pertaining to the period from the beginning of the 19th century to the beginning of the 21st century.
Kon-Tiki Museum is home to a collection of boats and artifacts from Thor Heyerdahl's expeditions. A great range of archaeological findings from Easter Island, Peru and East Polynesia are displayed in the museum.
Culture & EntertainmentOslo has a diversified cultural accumulation. Folk dance, opera, theater, concerts, music and a great deal of annual festivals all are the reflection of this cultural variety.
National Theater of Oslo is home to the annual International Ibsen Stage Festival. National Theater hosts Torsovteatret and Norwegian Theater. Oslo Nye Theater is another significant theater existed in the city.
Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra performing at Oslo Concert Hall, Norwegian National Opera and Oslo Cathedral Choir are the main reflections of musical art. Norwegian National Ballet performs at the Norwegian Opera.
Valle Voin with a capacity of 40.000 seats and Oslo Spektrum with a capacity of 10.000 people are significant centers hosting world renowned artists.
Walking, sightseeing by boats, riding on a mountain bike, playing golf, skiing, swimming in the open-air swimming pools, swimming and sunbathing at the beaches of one ferry away from the coast are left to your option.
In addition to being a summer city, Oslo is the leading winter capital. The world famous Holmenkollen Ski Jump, the cross country ski trails of more 2600 km, Tryvann Winter Park and ice skating at Narvisen, provide winter entertainment opportunities in the city center.
