City Guide: Stuttgart

Located at the southwestern part of Germany, Stuttgart is the capital of the Baden-Württemberg State and the 6th most crowded city of Germany. The city is placed at the center of one of the largest wine-growing regions of Germany. Stuttgart is close to the Black Forest and River Neckar, and situated on a lush valley surrounded by vineyards and dense forests. This German city is the cradle of automobile industry. The four wheel automobile and motorbike was invented in Stuttgart. A giant media industry is existed in the city.

• Tourist Attractions

  Stuttgart is one of the greenest cities of Europe. Its proximity to the Black Forest and the rich flora are among the constituents of a charming and panoramic atmosphere. In addition to its wealthy vineyards and vibrant culture, the capital of Baden-Württemberg State boasts with alluring gardens and parks, unprecedented squares, majestic palaces, historical castles and towns and a great deal of historical architectures. Also, the spas and beautiful lakes should be mentioned.
  
  Started to be built in 1746, Neues Schloss (New Castle) hosts the ministries of Baden-Wuerttemberg state government and the representation rooms.
  
  Weissenhof Settlement constructed in 1927 is one of the best monuments of the modern European architecture.
  
  Wilhelma Zoological and Botanical Gardens built in the 19th century is unique in Germany and one of the best ones in Europe. It is home to about 9,000 animals and 1,000 species. Various greenhouses, orchids, magnolia groves, aquariums and a great deal more are available at Wilhelma.
  
  The walking trails, named Stuttgarter Weinwanderweg, getting through the mind-blowing vineyards take you to the richest vineyards of the region.

  The vibrant and diverse geographic configuration of Stuttgart overlaps with its wealthy culture. The cultural centers and festivals keep the city dynamic. 
  
  Mercedes-Benz Museum is the location for the 120 years of automobile history. Consisting of three floors, the museum harbors the first automobiles and the first Mercedes. 
  Art Museum Stuttgart having a charming glass architecture displays a wealthy collection including the world’s best works by the German painter Otto Dix. Porsche Museum and Landesmuseum Württemberg are among the other best museums of city.
  
  State Gallery built in the first half of the 19th century has a wealthy art collection produced between 14th and 20th centuries. You will find the works of Renoir, Fra Angelico and Cezanne in the collection. Composed of two buildings, the gallery is home to valuable pieces from the Middle Ages.
  
  Wuerttemberg State Theater is an opera and a stage theater house. Stuttgart State Opera and the world famous Stuttgart Ballet stage their best productions under the roof of Wuerttemberg.
  
  Throughout the year, Stuttgart holds a great deal of cultural activities. Spring Festival, Summer Festival, Wine Village, Cannstatt Beer Festival and the Christmas Market are among the most popular festivals celebrated at the city.

  The wine city has a genuine local cuisine of the best delicacies and tasty specialties from the international cuisine. Most of the restaurants spread every quarter of Stuttgart offer fabulous tastes from Chinese, Western, Asian and a great deal more cuisines.

• Shopping

  Königstrasse is the main pedestrianised shopping street of Stuttgart. It is home to department stores, international designer marks and special shops.
  
  Ben Quarter (Bohnenviertel) placed at the old town part of the city hosts some of the best shops. The mosaic of the city’s shopping world resides here.
  
  Klett Passage comprising many retail stores is one of the best shopping centers in Germany. The mall is open on weekdays.
  
  The Market Hall built in 1914 harbors exotic flavors, species of delicious fruits and vegetables, various spices.
