Mevlana Jalal ad-Din Rumi dedicated his life to tolerance and love of humanity, transforming him to a legend throughout the World. Mevlana’s Life
His mother was Mu'mina Khātūn, the daughter of the Emeer of Balkh and his father was Baha ud-Din Walad, “Sultan of the Scholars”. Mevlana Jalal ad-Din Rumi was born in 30 September 1207 in the city of Balkh in present-day Afghanistan. While he was a child, his meeting with Attar of Nishapur had a lasting influence on him. He lived during the zenith of the Seljuq Sultanate of Rum in Konya and created immortal works until 1273.
