Information for passengers with flights regarding partial curfews to be imposed Learn more

Dear Passengers, 

In accordance with the circular published by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Turkish Airlines passengers with tickets for domestic and international flights will be permitted to travel during the partial curfew starting on November 20, 2020. 

If traveling to the airport during these times, passengers must submit flight documents (mobile boarding pass or ticket screenshot) at the checkpoints.

We would like to remind you to follow the guidelines and regulations published by the authorities and wish you healthy and safe flights.

For passengers with tickets issued for scheduled domestic and international flights departing Turkey between June 11 and December 31, 2020 (included) who were unable to board due to COVID-19 Learn more 

If you were unable to board the flight because you were not accepted by the destination country and/or have a positive COVID-19 test result, you may change your ticket, request a refund, change your ticket to an open ticket, or extend the validity of your ticket.

If the ticket is issued on or before December 31, 2020 (included):

  • The transaction must be completed by December 31, 2021 (included)
  • The relevant flight must be a scheduled domestic and international flight departing from Turkey between June 11 and December 31, 2020 (included)

Individual and group ticket transactions can be completed once for free regardless of the fare rules.

Change requests

You can change tickets for Turkish Airlines and AnadoluJet flights until December 31, 2021 without a fee, provided that your destination is in the same flight zone and your flight is in the same cabin.

  • For tickets departing from abroad that will be processed at the transfer point: If you perform your transaction at the ticket sales offices in Ankara Airport (ESB), Istanbul Airport (IST) and Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW), you can make a one-time free change for the same route and cabin for a later date. 
  • For tickets departing from any point in Turkey, issued as connecting flights to abroad, that will be processed at the transfer point due to restrictions on travel: If you perform a transaction at the ticket sales offices in Ankara Airport (ESB), Istanbul Airport (IST) and Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW), you can make a one-time free change for the same route and cabin for a later date.

Return Requests

You can obtain your refund without paying a fee for individual and group tickets on Turkish Airlines and AnadoluJet flights.

  • Interline flights are included. 
  • To benefit from your return right, you must be able to document the restriction on travel. 
  • Passengers who made an international departure but were not accepted on the connecting flight at the transfer points of Ankara Airport (ESB), Istanbul Airport (IST) and Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW), due to the obligation to submit the PCR test or other tests determined by the national authorities: if you failed to submit such tests on time and/or due to country restrictions, you are not entitled to a return. 
  • Passengers who made an international departure from Turkey and arriving abroad (including TRNC flights) but are not accepted to the connecting flight at the transfer points of Ankara Airport (ESB), Istanbul Airport (IST) and Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) due to the obligation to submit the PCR test or other tests determined by the country authorities: if you failed to submit such tests on time and/or due to country restrictions, you are not entitled to a return. 

Return options 

  • You can create a voucher worth 15% more than the ticket price. 
  • You can top-up your Miles&Smiles account 100 Miles for every EUR 1 of the ticket price.

Change-to-Open Ticket

You can change your ticket to an open ticket without paying an additional fee.

Extension of the ticket period

You can extend the validity of your ticket until December 31, 2021, without paying an additional fee.

You can perform your ticket change/return transactions by applying to Turkish Airlines sales offices with a document showing the situation that prevents your travel or you can reach us feedback form. You can perform your change-to-open ticket transactions through Turkish Airlines sales offices, the call center, and the agencies from which the ticket was purchased.

Additional rights for passengers with tickets issued between March 21, 2020 and December 31, 2020 (included) Learn more

For all Turkish Airlines and AnadoluJet tickets issued or to be issued between March 21, 2020 and December 31, 2020 (included), passengers may change their reservation, change the route or change their ticket to an open ticket under the conditions written below, provided that their flights are cancelled before the first scheduled flight time of the original ticket. (It is not valid for flights arriving to / departing from China.)

Change requests 

You can change tickets for Turkish Airlines and AnadoluJet flights until December 31, 2020 without a fee, provided that your destination is in the same flight zone and your flight is in the same cabin. 

Other fare differences that may arise from the change (transaction fee, exchange differences, class, differences arising from date and destination changes, tax differences) are collected from the passenger.

Change-to-Open Ticket 

You can change your ticket to an open ticket without paying an additional fee. 

Extension of the ticket period 

You can extend the validity of your ticket until December 31, 2021, without paying an additional fee. 

You can perform your ticket change/return transactions through Turkish Airlines sales offices and the call center. You can perform your change-to-open ticket transactions through Turkish Airlines sales offices, the call center, and the agencies from which the ticket was purchased.

Additional ticket rights granted to Ministry of Health-affiliated personnel whose annual leaves in Turkey have been postponed Learn more

Personnel affiliated with the Ministry of Health are granted certain ticket rights if their annual leaves in Turkey have been postponed.

These rights apply to domestic and international departure tickets issued by Turkish Airlines and AnadoluJet on or before 28 October 2020, provided that transactions are performed no later than 18 November 2020 (inclusive). The following transactions can be performed regardless of the fare rules.

Passengers who wish to benefit from this right are required to submit official documentation confirming affiliation with the Ministry of Health.

Change requests

Provided that the new reservation is in the same cabin class and destination area and that the transaction is completed by 18 November 2020 (inclusive):

  • You can book flights within one year from the original ticketing date without paying any change fee or fare difference.
  • For Interline flights, transactions do not incur a change fee if the new reservation is in the same fare class. If the new reservation is in a different fare class, the passenger must pay the difference. If the Interline flight is changed to a Turkish Airlines or AnadoluJet flight, no fee is charged for the change.

Refund requests

Provided the transaction is completed by 18 November 2020 (included), a refund request can be submitted based on the following conditions.

  • Unused tickets: Passengers may obtain a refund regardless of the fare rules. Interline flights are included.
  • Used tickets: Passengers may obtain a refund under Involuntary. Interline flights are included.

Extension of the ticket period

You can extend the duration of your ticket up to one year from the original ticket issuance date.

Ticket changes will be made by Turkish Airlines sales offices and the agencies from which the ticket was purchased. Within the framework of the conditions stated above, one change per ticket is permitted. Subsequent change requests will be subject to applicable penalties and/or fare rules.

Pakistan PCR Test Application Learn more

As of August 8, 2020, passengers are required to submit a negative COVID-19 PCR test result during check-in for departures from Pakistan. We would kindly like to inform you that passengers failing to submit negative results are not allowed to board the flight. We wish you safe travels!

Updates to Turkish Airlines Lounge services Learn more

Due to New Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we have implemented changes in our Turkish Airlines Lounge services.

Turkish Airlines Lounge Miles&Smiles at Istanbul Airport International Terminal, Turkish Airlines Lounge Domestic at Istanbul Airport Domestic Terminal, Turkish Airlines Lounge Domestic at Ankara Esenboga Airport Domestic Terminal and Turkish Airlines Lounge Washington D.C. at Washington D.C. Dulles International Airport are providing services for our passengers, following the implementation of additional hygiene measures.

Other lounges will remain temporarily closed.

International flights for citizens under the age of 18 and over 65 during the normalization process Learn more

According to instructions issued by the Ministry of Interior, passengers under the age of 18 and over 65 must comply with the following rules on their international flights.

  • Citizens aged 65 and older, who are considered to be at higher risk for Covid-19, must obtain a Travel Permit Document for intercity travel. Children under 18 years of age may travel intercity without a Travel Permit Document, if accompanied by their parent/guardian.
  • Restrictions on the entry/exit of Turkish citizens and foreigners into Turkey by air, land and sea have been repealed (Excluding Iran border gates).
  • Turkish citizens 65 years of age and older are not required to obtain a Travel Permit Document for connecting flights (domestic flights) if they can prove that their flight will continue abroad.
  • ­It is not necessary for Turkish citizens under the age of 18 to be accompanied by their parent/guardian on connecting flights (domestic flights) if they can provide that the flight will continue abroad.
  • ­Our citizens aged 65 and older, and under the age of 18 from abroad will not be required to have a Travel Permit Document or be accompanied by a parent/guardian on connecting flights within Turkey (domestic flights).

Rights granted due to the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics for passengers traveling to Japan Learn more

As the Tokyo 2020 Olympics are now postponed to 2021, our passengers with flights to Japan are offered the privilege to change or return their tickets, or change their tickets to open tickets.

You may use these privileges if your ticket was issued on or before March 24, 2020. The rights are valid

  • Provided that you take action by July 31, 2020,
  • For flights arriving in Japan between July 14, 2020 and September 6, 2020,

You can complete your personal and group ticket transactions for once, regardless of the fare rules.


Change requests

Provided that your new flight is the same fare class and in the same flight region, you can perform ticket changes for Turkish Airlines and AnadoluJet flights, until September 30, 2021, without any penalty.


Return requests

You can return your ticket in accordance with the fare rules specified on your ticket.


Change to open ticket

You can change your ticket to an open ticket, provided that the ticket is used by September 30, 2021, without paying an additional fee.

Tickets can be changed via Turkish Airlines sales offices, our call center, and the agency from which the ticket was purchased.
