The origin of the metropolis's name comes from the largest technology park of the USA, Research Triangle Park, which was established in 1959. The largest city of the triangle, Raleigh is also the state capital of North Carolina. Widely known as “the city of oaks” because of the ancient oak trees around the city, Raleigh is most appealing with its museums and Broadway style entertainment. Durham is located to the northwest of Raleigh between Jordan Lake and Falls Lake, and is also known as the “City of Medicine” or “Bull City.”
