Popular cities in Portugal

Lisbon
Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, houses historic neighborhoods like Alfama, with its labyrinthine streets, and lively Bairro Alto, as well as must-see destinations like Praça do Comércio, overlooking the river, and the Elevador de Santa Justa, opened in 1901. Further down the coast, in nearby Belem, the area’s maritime heritage is reflected by the Belem Tower and the majestic Jerónimos Monastery. After visiting some of Lisbon’s renowned museums and monuments, you can savor a pastel de nata, ride the tram through picturesque neighborhoods, and attend a live Fado performance at one of Alfama’s cozy cafes.

Porto
Set along the banks of the Douro River, the city of Porto is reachable with a Portugal flight ticket. While in Porto, you can visit world-class museums like the Serralves Foundation’s Museum of Contemporary Art or notable structures like the 18th-century Clérigos Church and its Baroque-style, 76-meter-tall bell tower. You can also browse the shelves at Livraria Lello, considered one of the world’s most beautiful bookstores, or stroll around the historic Ribeira neighborhood. Other highlights in Porto include taking in the views from the Dom Luís I Bridge, dining on traditional Portuguese cuisine at a riverfront restaurant, and, of course, touring one of Porto’s renowned wineries!
