Istanbul Ataturk Airport is about 22 km from the city center of the historical peninsula and you can get there by metro and tram. It costs TRY 2.40 using an Istanbul Card, which you get and load money onto at the airport station, to take the metro and go to the stop at Zeytinburnu where you can transfer to the T1 tram line. The transfer costs an additional TRY 1.45, and the T1 line goes all the way to Kabataş, stopping off at various stations on the historic peninsula along the way. The trip takes about 50 minutes. Alternatively, you can take the metro all the way to Yenikapı where you can transfer to the M2 metro line and continue on to Taksim. If you want to cross to the Anatolian side of the city, go to Yenikapı and transfer to the Marmaray metro line, which goes to Üsküdar and near Kadıköy.
B. Sabiha Gökçen International Airport
Sabiha Gökçen International Airport is about 46 km from the city center of the historical peninsula and you can get there with a combination of bus, metro, and tram. Take a Havataş bus to Kadıköy or, if you plan to stay on the European side of the city, take the bus to Taksim – tickets for both services cost TRY 14 and you can purchase these on the bus. To get from Taksim to the historical peninsula, get an Istanbul Card, load some money onto it, and take the F1 funicular line from Taksim to Kabataş. This costs TYR 2.40. From there, transfer for of TRY 1.45 to the T1 tram line, which will take you all the way through the historic peninsula.
