Guidelines for safe travel

As Turkish Airlines, our priority is to make sure that you, our dear guests, have a safe and comfortable journey.

We want you to feel safe and comfortable during your travels. As the Turkish national flag carrier, we have specified new criteria and taken new measures in all our procedures together with health authorities, drawing on the experience of Türkiye's successful fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

We present you the guidelines for safe travel in this manual and wish you a pleasant flight.

Before the flight


Online check-in

We recommend that you complete your check-in online via either our mobile application or website in order to reduce your contact rate.

Check-in time

Please note that check-in procedures will end at least 45 minutes before the scheduled departure time for domestic flights and 60 minutes before international flights.

Belongings permitted in the cabin

One piece of cabin baggage per passenger not to exceed 8 kg in the Economy Class and two pieces of cabin baggage per passenger up to 8 kg and not to exceed 16 kg in total in the Business Class, one personal item per passenger are permitted for both cabin classes.

Boarding the aircraft


Equipment for employees

Personal protective equipment for in-flight use are provided for our cabin crew.

Mask use

Wearing a mask during the flight depends on the country specific restrictions and the decisions taken by the states. Please check the current travel rules for your destination.

Boarding point

Boardings will be carried out via passenger boarding bridges and apron buses where all hygiene measures are taken.

On-board


Thorough cleaning

After each flight, all contact points in our aircraft including tray tables, armrests, belts, screens, controllers, overhead bins, air vents, reading lamps, side panels, windows, lavatories, partitions, magazine racks, decorative panels and cabinets are thoroughly disinfected by special teams. Our aircraft are disinfected once again by a two-stage special disinfection procedure called fogging upon their arrival at our hub, and made ready for their next flight.

HEPA filters

HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filters in our aircraft uses a special filtration system that can remove 99.97% of all particles whose diameter is up to 0.3 microns in the air.

Air quality

During our flights, cabin air is constantly cleaned by hospital-standard HEPA filters. With this filtration system, the air is completely renewed about every 3 minutes.


Clean air-flow

The systems our aircraft equipped with release the clean air inside the cabin through air vents and withdraw it from the lower part of the cabin, sending it to HEPA filters and outside. Thus, the air inside the cabin does not travel horizontally between the seats.

Mask use

Wearing a mask during the flight depends on the country specific restrictions and the decisions taken by the states. Please check the current travel rules for your destination. Only medical masks are allowed and they should be changed every 4 hours. Masks with one-way valves or vents are not allowed. When you need to change your mask, remove it without touching its front surface, throw it into the disposal bag. Please make sure you have enough number of masks with you.

Hygiene kit

Depending on the requirements of the destination country, you will be provided with a mask and an antiseptic tissue. (All toilets include The kits in short-haul flights include a mask and a antiseptic tissue while the kits in long-haul flights also include a hand sanitizer.)


Hygiene of textiles

All textile products are washed at professional facilities in high temperatures with allergen-free special chemicals approved by the authorities, and packed by automatic packaging machines.

Blanket service

Blanket service will be provided only on flights of 4 hours or longer.

Pillow service

The pillow service is available on all flights and to Business and Economy Class passengers.


PressReader

PressReader is an easy-to-use mobile app for smartphones or tablets, which provides unlimited access to newspapers and magazines. You can access content provided in the application (pressreader.turkishairlines.com) 24 hours before your flight and up to 24 hours after your flight.

Headphones service

Denon earphones for Business Class passengers are available on transoceanic flights. Philips earphones for Business Class passengers and disposable headphones for Economy Class passengers are available on other international flights. You can bring your own headphones for domestic flights and enjoy the tv series, movies, music and games offered in the in-flight entertainment system.

Companion application

You can use the "Companion" application in our aircraft with available Wi-Fi, and control remotely the in-flight entertainment system by using your mobile devices.
