Turkish Airlines might not be able to take you underwater, but we can help you open the gates to the magical world beneath the waves by carrying your scuba diving equipment for you wherever your destination is.

Carrying diving equipment on flights

Diving equipment consists of diving suit, buoyancy vest (BC), mask, fins, underwater flashlight, knife, snorkel, harpoon, diving socks, diving cylinder and regulator. 

  • Diving cylinders shall be empty. The meter shall read zero. 
  • The air in buoyancy vest shall be emptied. 
  • Equipment such as underwater flashlight (diving lamp) and soldering iron can be carried as hand baggage or checked baggage. In order to prevent an unexpected situation during flight, the heat generating section or power source of the equipment shall be separated, and packaged to restrict activation. The removed batteries shall be protected against short circuit. 
  • The harpoon shall not be set and its tips shall be packed separately. 
  • It as accepted with their special cases or as appropriately packaged. 
  • Special baggage fee is not applied in domestic flights; your baggage will be processed as checked baggage. In case baggage allowance is exceeded, excess baggage fee, calculated according to the weight of the baggage, will be requested. 
  • Special baggage fee is applied in international flights. 
  • It is mandatory to make reservation entry. 
  • As some aircraft types in our fleet are not suitable for carrying the cargo of these sizes, do not forget to inform the related personnel during reservation. Equipment not in the appropriate sizes are carried on cargo flights.
On all flights arriving to Aqaba (AQJ) and on all return flights from this destination, one set of your diving equipment will be carried free of charge until 31 December 2019. Special fees will be applicable for more than one set of diving equipment per person or if there is a voluntary stopover in Turkey which exceeds 24 hours.
On all flights arriving to Hurghada (HRG) and Sharm El Sheikh (SSH) and on all return flights from these destinations, one set of your diving, kitesurfing and windsurfing equipment will be carried free of charge until 31 December 2019. Special fees will be applicable for more than one set of diving, kitesurfing and windsurfing equipment per person or if there is a voluntary stopover in Turkey which exceeds 24 hours.
For all flights departing from the United Kingdom where that flight is the first departure point of the ticket; to Cape Town (CPT), Port Louis (MRU), Manila (MNL), Johannesburg (JNB), Durban (DUR), Dar es Salaam (DAR), Maputo (MPM), Muscat (MCT), Jakarta (JKT), Bangkok (BKK), Phuket (HKT), Seychelles (SEZ), Zanzibar (ZNZ), Tel Aviv (TLV), Kuala Lumpur (KUL), Havana (HAV), Denpasar-Bali (DPS), Colombo (CMB), Antananarivo (TNR), Hanoi (HAN), Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and on the returns of these travels from the same destination, 1 set of your scuba diving equipment will be transported free of charge until 31 December 2019. Special fees will be applicable for than one set of diving equipment per person or if there is a voluntary stopover in Turkey which exceeds 24 hours.
For all flights departing from the United Kingdom where that flight is the first departure point of the ticket; to Male (MLE), Aqaba (AQJ), Sharm El-Sheikh (SSH) and Hurghada (HRG) and on the returns of these travels from the same destination, 1 set of your scuba diving equipment will be transported free of charge until 31 December 2021. Special fees will be applicable for than one set of diving equipment per person or if there is a voluntary stopover in Turkey which exceeds 24 hours.
On all flights departing from Austria to Johannesburg (JNB), Cape Town (CPT), Durban (DUR), Maputo (MPM), Zanzibar (ZNZ), Dar Es Salaam (DAR), Mauritius (MRU), Jakarta (JKT), Denpasar (DPS), Phuket (HKT), Seychelles (SEZ) and on all return flights from these destinations, one set of your diving equipment will be carried free of charge until 30 June 2020. Special fees will be applicable for the second or more sets of diving equipment or in case the transit time at Turkey exceeds 24 hours.
On all flights departing from Tel Aviv (TLV) to Colombo (CMB) or Male (MLE), and on return flights from these destinations; 1 set of your diving or surfing equipment with a maximum length of 200 cm will be transported free of charge until 31 December 2019. Special fees will be applicable if the length of your surfboard exceeds 200 cm or for the second or more sets of diving equipment and surfboards, or in case the transit time at Turkey exceeds 24 hours.
On all flights arriving to Maldives (MLE) and on all return flights from this destination, one set of your diving equipment will be carried free of charge until 31 December 2019. Special fees will be applicable for more than one set of diving equipment per person or if there is a voluntary stopover in Turkey which exceeds 24 hours.
On journeys from Nurnberg (NUE) to Denpasar (DPS) and on return flights of these journeys, one set of your diving equipment will be carried free of charge until 31 December 2019. Special fees will be applicable for more than one set of diving equipment per person or if there is a voluntary stopover in Turkey which exceeds 24 hours.
