Passer au menu principal

Dear Passengers,

Some additional controls may be applied to our passengers who have flights arriving in Venezuela (CCS), Mexico (MEX and CUN), Colombia (BOG), Cuba (HAV) and Brazil (GRU), apart from the general rules such as passport and visa requirements. Since the country's authorities may deny entry to the country with respect to the following requirements, similar controls can be carried out during boarding.

You can access the general rules on the International Air Transport Association (IATA) website. Additional controls are included below.

Venezuela (CCS)

Check in;

  1. Caracas Airport transit passenger information
  • There is no airside transit procedure at Caracas (CCS). Passengers with connecting flights after arriving at CCS must collect their baggage, clear immigration into the country, and check in again at the operating airline’s counter.
  • Check-in counters at CCS close 2 hours prior to the scheduled departure time. Even if a passenger has completed online check-in or has no checked baggage, they are still required to present themselves at the airline’s counter for mandatory security profiling by the local authorities. Passengers who do not arrive at the counter on time or are not permitted to enter the country may be treated by the local authorities as inadmissible (INAD).
  1. Requirements for visa-required nationals entering Venezuela
  • Proof of hotel reservation, fully prepaid for the entire duration of stay, or a notarized official Letter of Invitation
  • Confirmed return or onward ticket, with a maximum stay of 90 days

Please ensure that these requirements are fully met before travel. Otherwise, passengers may be processed as inadmissible (INAD) by the local authorities.

Note:
a. OKTB (Ok to Board) clearance is mandatory for seamen. Please forward all required documentation via email to ccsstation@thy.com.
b. Turkish citizens holding Special (Green) Passports are exempt from Venezuelan visa requirements.

  1. Expired passport regulations for Venezuelan citizens

Required documentation for Venezuelan nationals traveling internationally (both inbound and outbound) is outlined below. Please verify passenger documents accordingly:

A.Departure from Venezuela

  • To depart the country, Venezuelan citizens must hold a valid (non-expired) Venezuelan passport.

B.Entry into Venezuela

To enter Venezuela, Venezuelan citizens must present one of the following:
  • A valid Venezuelan passport or an expired Venezuelan passport together with a Travel Document (Laissez-Passer) issued by a Venezuelan consular mission in the country of origin/departure.

If there is no Venezuelan consulate in the country of departure, this document must be obtained via:

  • An accredited Venezuelan mission in a neighboring country, or the official portal of the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Travel Document must:

  • Be original and duly completed, signed, and stamped, or be an official digital copy received by the passenger via email
  • Be currently valid
  • Be issued no earlier than 72 hours prior to the scheduled time of travel

C.Dual nationals holding Venezuelan citizenship

  • Dual nationals who are also Venezuelan citizens must enter Venezuela using Venezuelan documentation as specified in items A and B above.
  • To depart Venezuela, they are required to present a valid passport (Venezuelan or other, subject to applicable regulations).

D.Non-compliance

  • Passengers (including deportees) who do not meet the documentation requirements outlined in items A or B must not be ticketed or accepted for boarding, in line with local immigration regulations.
  1. Venezuela electronic visa application

Effective December 15, 2023, a new visa type designated as “Electronic Visa” (VISA de cortesía) has been implemented. Key operational points are outlined below:

  1. This visa category is reserved for special guests of the Venezuelan Government, diplomats, and VIP passengers, primarily originating from countries without an established Venezuelan consular mission.
  2. All other visa types will continue to be stamped or affixed in physical form to the passport. This is the only authorized Venezuelan e‑visa format.
  3. This visa is issued directly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MPPRE).
  4. The Electronic Visa must be verified by airlines during check-in using a two-step verification process:

A.QR code verification

  • Scan the QR code displayed on the passenger’s mobile device.
  • The code must redirect to an official verification page showing the passenger’s personal details and a “Valid” (Válido) status.

B.Data and website verification

  • Confirm that the information displayed on the verification page matches the details on the Electronic Visa PDF shown on the passenger’s mobile device.
  • Confirm that the verification website URL ends with “mppre.gob.ve”.
  • As static QR codes may be tampered with or fraudulently generated, the visa must not be accepted unless both the data and the URL are verified.
