Turkish Airlines offers four flights in average every day from Istanbul to Erzurum. Half of these flights take off from Istanbul Airport (IST), whereas the other half uses Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) as a point of departure. Number of flights remains quite the same throughout the year; however, there may be changes on the times of departure. You may increase your flight alternatives in this route via the connecting flights operated over Ankara Esenboğa Airport (ESB).
Journeys from Istanbul to Erzurum with Turkish Airlines take nearly an hour and fifty minutes. It would be advisable for the most convenient and advantageous journey to pay attention to the points of departure and potential transit spots while booking your flight to Erzurum.

Istanbul Airport (IST) is located on the European side, between Tayakadın, a neighborhood on the Black Sea coast, and Akpınar villages. Istanbul Airport is 35 km from the city center.
There are plenty of transport options from the city center to Istanbul Airport. You can reach the airport with Havaist buses from many central, easy-to-reach spots, such as Taksim, Beşiktaş, Yenikapı, Bahçeşehir and Kozyatağı. There are a couple of alternatives for reaching Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW). Passengers planning to use municipal buses to reach the airport may get on the bus numbered SG-2 from Taksim, E-3 from 4th Levent, E11 or the express bus SG-1 from Kadıköy.
Note that the urban subway line has no direct connection into Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW). You may therefore get off the subway train at Kartal station and transfer here to the bus numbered KM22 to get to the airport.
Another public transportation option would be the airport shuttles; setting off from Taksim, Kadıköy and Yenisahra, these shuttles operate almost at all hours. In addition to all these, you may also consider taking a cab from anywhere in the city to reach Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW).

Municipal bus services operate in line with the flight hours in the route of Airport, Erzurum Technical University, EBŞ Municipal Sports Facilities, Municipal Building, Kız Meslek Lisesi, Hastaneler Caddesi, Gez Neighborhood and İstasyon Square.
Apart from that, you may take a cab to reach anywhere in the city from the airport, or, rent a car from the car rental offices serving in the airport for a smooth transportation during your stay.
