Transporting Musical Instruments
Our standard cabin baggage rules apply to the transport of musical instruments.
Special provisions apply to the transport of cellos and similar musical instruments on all flights operated by Turkish Airlines that depart from Türkiye to international destinations, depart from international destinations to Türkiye, or involve international connecting flights. These provisions are evaluated in accordance with the rules of the relevant flight and the conditions for carrying seat baggage in the cabin.
Loading Cabin Baggage
We transport large musical instruments, such as double basses, as checked baggage in the aircraft’s cargo hold.
In order to transport this type of musical equipment in the checked baggage compartment, you must present it at the check-in counter in a hard, durable carrying case.
This equipment is handed over during check-in and transported separately without using the standard baggage carousel.
Please note that if you exceed your baggage allowance, you will be required to pay an excess baggage fee for the relevant flight.
Different cabin baggage charges apply on routes that include Dubai and Caracas.
