Extra baggage fee exception circumstances

  • The baggage fee on our Turkish Republic of Northern Cypru flights is TRY 150 for every 1 KG for soldiers of the Turkish Peace Force serving in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. 
  • For passengers travelling to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cypru on the student discount fare, the extra baggage fee is determined as 150 TRY per 1 kg.
  • The extra baggage fee may be different for domestic direct flights and connecting flights.

Baggage concept

The right to piece or weight allowance is applied in accordance with the Turkish Airlines flight destinations. The excess baggage fee at a destination is also determined based on the registered baggage concept. You can review the destinations in which piece baggage concept is applied on the registered baggage page or in the fare rules field specified on your flight.

Joint flights and most significant carrier (MSC)

  • Baggage rules for international flights operated jointly with another airline are determined per regulations set by the IATA (International Air Transport Association). In line with IATA regulations, the rule of the Most Significant Carrier (MSC) applies. In general, the MSC is the airline flying the longest segment, but there may be exceptions.
  • The extra baggage fee on flights may vary. Please contact our sales offices for the amount to be paid.

Stopover flights

  • Stopover; flights consisting of connected flights, with a waiting time of 24 hours or more between two connecting flights. 
  • For flights with stopovers, charges may be incurred in addition to the extra baggage fee. Please contact our sales offices for information regarding total baggage fees.

  • You can find the binding legal conditions concerning your baggage on the General Conditions of Carriage and baggage Extra Baggage Terms and Conditions pages. 
  • You must ensure that your checked baggage allowance is shown on the ticket prior to the flight. 
  • On routes with piece baggage concept, the maximum weight of 1 piece of baggage is 23 kg for Economy Class and 32 kg for Business Class. A one piece baggage weighing 23 kg is checked-in as extra baggage both for Economy Class and for Business Class. On these routes, 80 USD will be charged per piece (apart from exceptional circumstances) for extra baggage weighing between 23-32 kg.
  • Regardless of the weight and piece concept, a single piece of baggage cannot exceed 32 KG. Baggage that exceeds 32 KG must be divided and carried in two or more pieces.

  • As per the directive of the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority, passengers may carry up to seven checked bags on flights arriving in Cameroon.
