Important update on the fuel surcharge (YR) in Japan

The fuel surcharge (YR) applicable for tickets issued on or after October 1, 2025 has been updated. There will also be some changes to the fuel surcharge amounts on flights to and beyond Istanbul. The following revised content has been formally approved by Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

The fuel surcharge applies to Turkish Airlines flights departing from Japan and is set at 27,500 JPY per person one-way (including Insurance Surcharge). Infant passengers are exempt from this surcharge.

Every year in April, June, August, October, December, and February, Singapore jet kerosene prices are reviewed. The two-month average price is converted into Japanese yen based on the average exchange rate, and the fuel surcharge is recalculated accordingly. If the average price falls below 6,000 JPY per barrel, the fuel surcharge is removed for tickets issued during the following two-month period.

Below is the Fuel Surcharge Benchmark List determined based on Singapore jet kerosene prices.
