Have you received your baggage?

We strive to ensure that your baggage arrives safely and on time at your destination. However, despite our diligent efforts, baggage losses may occur due to a variety of reasons. If your baggage has been lost, you can reach out to the Lost and Found offices of Turkish Airlines or the ground handling company at your arrival airport. When you submit your query at the airport or online, you will receive a reference number (PIR/Baggage Incident Report number, e.g. ISTTK12345) for your lost baggage. The application procedures to follow in the event of lost baggage are listed below.

Request to the lost and found office

If your baggage has not arrived, you can submit an application while you’re still at the airport. Please visit the Lost and Found office of Turkish Airlines or the appropriate ground handling company and complete the application using your boarding pass and baggage tag numbers. Your application will result in the creation of a lost baggage report, and you will be assigned a report number.

Online application and tracking

If you leave the airport without reporting your lost luggage to the Lost and Found office, you can submit an application online by completing the baggage issues tracking form. After completing and submitting the form, you can track the status of your lost baggage.

Terms and conditions regarding lost baggage

  • To file a claim for lost baggage, you must provide the baggage tag that was issued to you. Consequently, it is important to ensure that the name tag provided at check-in is fully completed and securely affixed to your luggage.
  • It is important to retain your baggage tag and boarding pass until you have received your baggage, in case you require additional processing.
  • Thorough investigations are conducted to pinpoint baggage that seems untagged in our system due to the lack of a baggage tag; however, no evaluation can be made regarding any potential financial loss.
  • Please submit and maintain a report to facilitate the proper investigation of your baggage or to continue the process in the event that it cannot be located, thus ensuring that any damages can be compensated.
  • When you pass your baggage to the counter staff during the check-in process, make sure that you receive a copy of your baggage tag.
  • If passengers depart the airport without retrieving their baggage, they will be accountable for any financial losses incurred.
  • If the airline you traveled with on your last flight is not Turkish Airlines, you must submit your application to that airline. If you have flown with any airline that is part of Star Alliance, you are eligible to apply to all member airlines.
  • If your baggage was in lost baggage status for an extended period and was delivered to you after a delay, or if it has damaged or missing contents, you can submit a written application to Turkish Airlines within seven days of receiving the baggage, using your previously created report number.
