A spectacular city on seven hills, Istanbul hosts two airports: Istanbul Airport (IST) and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW). Both airports serve as the points of departure for Turkish Airlines flights to Gaziantep.
The new apple of Istanbul’s eye, Istanbul Airport (IST), is approximately 35 km from the city center and located on the European side between Tayakadın, a neighborhood on the Black Sea coast, and Akpınar villages. There are plenty of ways for you to reach the airport from the city center.
It takes around 30 minutes to reach the airport from the city center by taxi and costs around 100-110 TL. Public transportation, such as Havaist and IETT buses, are available from many places in the city center. For more information on transport schedules check our transport information page.
There are various alternatives for reaching Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) which is located on the Anatolian side, in Pendik district. You may get to the airport via the municipal buses, airport shuttles or cabs. Transportation by the cabs to the airport may be a bit expensive, as the airport is 40 kilometers from Kadıköy and 50 kilometers from Taksim; you may therefore prefer the airport shuttles setting off both from Kadıköy and Taksim. Shuttles from Taksim cross the Bosporus Bridge and reach the airport. Shuttles from Kadıköy, on the other hand, operate right in front of the ferry terminal.
Another option for reaching Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) would be the municipal buses. Buses numbered E-11 depart from Kadıköy Ferry Terminal, E9 from Bostancı Ferry Terminal and get to the airport. Passengers wishing to use municipal buses from the European side may get on the bus numbered SG-2 from Taksim and E-3 from 4th Levent.
Having been a significant stop at the ancient Silk Road, Gaziantep is regarded also as the junction point of cultures. The city is mentioned most often especially by its culinary culture and included in UNESCO Creative Cities Network as of 2016 thanks to its gastronomic popularity. A majority of the artifacts from Zeugma Ancient City are exhibited in Zeugma Museum.
As the sole airport serving in this historical town, Gaziantep Oğuzeli Airport (GZT) welcomes a great number of domestic and foreign passengers throughout the year. Turkish Airlines flights to Gaziantep land at this airport.
Gaziantep Oğuzeli Airport (GZT) is 20 kilometers from the city center. There are airport shuttles and cabs to get to the city.
