By its location in the Anatolian side, Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) serves both to Istanbul and to the nearby cities like Izmit, Bursa and Sakarya. Note that you should make at least one transfer to reach the airport via the subway system. It is possible to get to Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) by the municipal bus numbered KM22, departing from Kartal Subway Station.
Other public transport alternative, municipal buses operate from both sides of the city. There are two airports in the city: Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport (MUC) which is 15 kilometers from the center, and Memmingen Airport (FMM) 110 kilometers away from the center. Passengers holding a flight ticket to Munich with Turkish Airlines land at Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport (MUC).
You may easily reach the city center from the airport by the suburban train S-bahn. Two different lines, S1 and S8 both operate to the center from the airport. You may use the line S1 to get to the north and west parts of the city and finally to the Central Station. Other line S8 reaches the Central Station as well, following the route of eastern districts. S1 line makes departure from Neufahrn Station on its route and the front railway cars head towards Freising. Back railway cars, on the other hand, serve in Central Station-Airport route.
It is possible to reach the center also by the private shuttles or cabs serving 7/24, or, rent a car from the airport to ensure a smooth transport during your stay.
