Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is a scientific and cultural hub for the region as well as the country. Some of the city’s highlights include the Walled City of Baku, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the complex also houses the Maiden Tower and the 15th-century Shirvanshah's Palace.
