Mevlana commemorated with tolerance and love: "Şeb-i Arus''

Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi's words, “Come, whoever you are”, an expression of love, tolerance, and unity, capture the spirit of Konya. More than just a tourist destination, Konya, home to Mevlana for almost 50 years, is a city redolent of spirituality and understanding—a city where time slows down. At no time is this more evident than on December 17, when the annual celebration of Şeb-i Arus (Wedding Night) takes place in Konya. Mevlana, who died on the night of December 17, 1273, described death as a “reunion with the beloved”, viewing his own passing, and his reunion with Allah, as a “wedding night”. Throughout the city, especially at the Mevlana Museum and at cultural centers, commemorative events such as Sema performances, hymns, and readings are held to mark this anniversary.
