Introducing Ethiopia
One of the world’s oldest countries, Ethiopia is on the Horn of Africa, sharing land borders with Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, Kenya, Sudan, and South Sudan. With a flight to Ethiopia, visitors can travel to Addis Ababa, the capital and the center of the African Union, as well as the continent’s diplomatic heart. Ethiopia is home to a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Lalibela, featuring rock-carved churches dating from the 7th century, as well as the Simien Mountains National Park and the Fasil Ghebbi castles in Gondar. Ethiopia is also considered the birthplace of coffee: The coffee plant and consumption of coffee as a beverage is thought to have originated in the Kefa (Kaffa) region in the country’s southwest region.
Turkish Airlines operates flights to Ethiopia, departing from Istanbul Airport (IST) to Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa. Flights to Ethiopia take five hours and 30 minutes on average. Fares for Ethiopia flight tickets may vary depending on the season.
