We are improving in areas such as the use of recycled materials in certain products and services that are part of our flight experience, the use of FSC-certified paper, the reduction of single-use plastics, and digitalization. On this page, you can take a closer look at the sustainability-focused choices we’ve made in the products and services you may encounter during your flight.
For the safety cards, emergency exit passenger information cards, and in-flight entertainment system information cards provided on the aircraft, we use polypropylene—a material with a lower specific gravity—instead of PVC. Manufactured from 100% recycled polypropylene, these cards are part of our product improvements aimed at reducing plastic waste.
RPET: Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (RPET) is a type of plastic derived from recycled PET waste.
FSC: An international certification system that supports the responsible use of forest resources.
FSC Mix: Refers to materials sourced from FSC-certified forests, recycled materials, and controlled sources.
PLA: A type of bioplastic known as polylactic acid, which can be produced from plant-based sources.
PVC: Known as polyvinyl chloride, it is one of the types of plastic that can be used in various products and packaging.
Polypropylene: A type of plastic that is lightweight, durable, and can be included in the recycling process under appropriate conditions.
Biodegradable: Refers to materials that can break down through biological processes under appropriate conditions.
Softwood: A type of wood typically derived from coniferous trees and used in wood-based products.
Kraft packaging: A paper-based packaging material typically known for its natural brown appearance.
Leaping Bunny: An international certification program that indicates cosmetics and personal care products were not tested on animals during their development.
Certified B Corporation™: An international certification indicating that companies meet specific standards in the areas of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
