We, as Turkish Airlines Management, hereby declare that it is our responsibility to develop, employ and continuously improve a safety management system, with the objective of establishing a level of safety performance that meets national and international standards. All levels of management and employees are responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the level of safety.

  • Provide and promote the necessary human and financial resources to support this policy.

With the awareness of the human factor in the civil aviation sector, it aims not to compromise operational safety and
security and to minimize operational risks. First of all, it determines alcohol and psychoactive substance addiction as a
selection criterion in the employment of new human resources for operational critical tasks in terms of the safety and
security of flight operations. It does not employ candidates who are found to be addicted to alcohol and/or psychoactive
substances.

  • Does not allow performing tasks while under the influence of alcohol and/or psychoactive substances.
  • Prohibits abuse and/or addiction of alcohol and/or psychoactive substances.
  • Does not allow employees who are found to be under the influence and/or addicted to alcohol and/or psychoactive
    substances to participate in operational duties.
  • The regulations of national and international civil aviation authorities are exactly applied.

Turkish Airlines is a leading airline in Europe that is active on a global scale and preferred for its flight safety, reliability, product range, service quality and competitive position in the civil aviation sector.

Turkish Airlines hereby announces its Information Security Policy to ensure the security of any information assets (electronic records, video records, pictures, printed documents, verbal information, etc.) they own or are obligated by national and international laws, regulations, contracts, standards and ethics to protect and to destroy or anonymize such information when necessary.

This policy applies to all Turkish Airlines departments using the Turkish Airlines information processing systems, users with access to the Turkish Airlines information processing systems as a third party and the service, software or hardware providers that give technical support to the Turkish Airlines information processing systems.

The parties in this scope are required to comply with the rules and requirements specified in the documents, in which there are also sanctions, created for the purpose of managing the relations between Turkish Airlines and its employees and stakeholders. 

According to the Turkish Airlines Information Security Policy;

  • Confidentiality, integrity and accessibility are the principles for information security in the processing, transmission and storing of information.
  • All Turkish Airlines employees and stakeholders protect the information that has been assigned to them and their access information according to the written rules and commitments and when it becomes necessary to share the information they act according to the Turkish Airlines policies.
  • Neither onsite nor remote access is given for any facility, resource and information that a direct right has not been assigned. Access authority is checked and tested when necessary or periodically, and rearranged when necessary.
  • All of the Turkish Airlines information systems are securely monitored, recorded and subjected to tests when necessary by Turkish Airlines, in compliance with legal regulations.
  • Suitable cryptographic methods are used when transmitting and storing all critical information that is required to be protected by law or carries a risk for Turkish Airlines.
  • Turkish Airlines has developed the Information Security Management System with a systematic risk approach methodology. Each type of information asset is classified by the specified methodology, subjected to a risk analysis and controls are applied to minimize any risks to an acceptable level.
  • The management of all access authority and any processes that are carried out on these information assets are realized with consideration for the class value and risk value.
  • All information security violations (real or suspected) are reported to the Turkish Airlines Cyber Incident Management Team (CIMT). The Turkish Airlines CIMT will respond to all incidents that are reported.
  • All Turkish Airlines employees act on a “need to know” principle and provide a written commitment to comply with confidentiality rules.
  • Turkish Airlines ensures the security of information and access in relations with third parties through written contracts and commitments obtained from third parties.
  • The Turkish Airlines Information Security Policy and Information Security Management System are reviewed periodically in Compliance Review Board meetings and are revised in the framework of a constant improvement principle.

Human Rights and Employee Rights Policy Learn more

Turkish Airlines Inc. (“Company”) that is the flag carrier of the Republic of Turkey undertakes to respect the human rights and to operate in compliance with the international principles, standards specified in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labor Organization’s (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the United Nations Global Compact, the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the United Nations Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs), the Worst Forms of Child Labor Convention (ILO/No.182), and the national legislation in all its operations, particularly in the scheduled, unscheduled commercial passenger and cargo air transportation services on domestic and international lines, and training services. The purpose of the Human Rights and Employee Rights Policy (“Policy”) is to create a guide that reflects the Company’s approach to and standards for the human rights, thus emphasizing the importance it attaches to the human rights and employee rights. The commitment to operate by respecting the human rights covers all internal and external stakeholders including employees, customers, suppliers, contractors, and business partners. FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES

RESPECTING HUMAN RIGHTS

Human rights are the fundamental rights and freedoms inherent to all human beings, regardless of race, nationality, ethnicity, religion, language, sex, and dissent. In all its activity areas, the Company places top priority on the health, safety, respectability, and wellness of the employees, customers, business partners, suppliers, contractors, and everybody who may be affected by its activities.
It ensures with the Business Ethics and Code of Conduct Manual (“Code of Ethics”) that the employees act in compliance with the laws, ethical values, social norms, and by respecting humans, and allows them to report, safely and confidentially, any act violating the corporate principles on discrimination, bribery, conflict of interests, and code of conduct through the Ethics Helpline reporting system.

DIVERSITY and EQUAL OPPORTUNITY

The Company always observes the equal opportunity principle in its activity area composed of numerous different countries and cultures, and never discriminates against anybody on the basis of race, skin color, sex, ethnicity, nationality, language, religion, physical appearance, age, economic conditions, and familial status. FORCED LABOR, MODERN SLAVERY, HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Under the roof of the Company, no one may be forced to work without their own consent and by preventing them from exercising their legal rights. In the Company, all rights of any employee are guaranteed. As the whole corporation, the Company is against any practices in violation of human rights such as illegal employment of immigrants, employment of foreign national employee who does not have work permit, indentured servitude, and forced labor including any kind of human trafficking.

BULLYING and HARASSMENT

All the Company’s employees deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. The Company is against any and all kinds of bullying and harassment regardless verbal, written, physical, or visual. It is never tolerated that the employees’ inviolability is violated in any manner through physical, sexual, psychological and/or emotional harassment in the workplace or anywhere they work, that they are abused or intimidated. The employees are encouraged to report bullying and harassment incidents. The managers also act in compliance with the said policy of the Company.

CHILD LABOR

The Company is aware of the importance of ensuring the intellectual, physical, and psychological health of all the world’s children. It acts in compliance with the national and international laws and other requirements, the International Labor Organization (ILO) Minimum Age Convention dated 1973 in particular, on the use of child labor, and child labor is never used in any one of its activities.

WORKING CONDITIONS and WORK-PRIVATE LIFE BALANCE

It is one of the priorities to offer humane working conditions and establish and maintain a healthy work-private life balance in all countries of operation. Therefore, the work order, the rights to leave, and the working and resting periods have been determined and put under protection through the local legal regulations in the countries of operation, the collective labor agreement (“Collective Labor Agreement”) in force, and the Company’s Human Resources Procedure.

RENUMERATION

The renumeration policy is determined competitively in compliance with the local legal regulations, the sector, the labor market, and the requirements of the collective labor agreements in force within the framework of the internal and external factors. Full compliance with the legal regulations is observed in the payments such as wage, fringe benefits, and overtime. The process followed in renumeration of employees is determined through the Collective Labor Agreement and the Board of Directors Decisions, and shared with all employees transparently.

TRAINING and DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The Company targets to ensure the satisfaction of the employees who are the basic driving force behind the success by giving them opportunity to develop their professional knowledge, skills, and talents. It supports the employees in revealing their potentials, improving their performances, and developing themselves in their own areas of interest through the working environment, virtual/classroom trainings, career and personal development opportunities, social opportunities, career opportunities offered, and the certified trainings organized jointly with domestic and foreign institutions.

FREEDOM OF ORGANIZATION and COLLECTIVE BARGAINING RIGHT

The Company respects the employees’ rights to union membership and collective bargaining. The purpose of the Collective Labor Agreement signed between the Company and the authorized union is the protection and improvement of the employees’ renumeration, social and personal rights.

PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA

The Company is aware of the fact that the confidentiality of personal data is important. The Company takes the necessary actions in compliance with the principles, rules, and procedures prescribed in the national and international personal data protection legislations it is subject to, the Personal Data Protection Law Number 6698 in particular, and including the European Union General Data Protection Regulation. It acts in accordance with Turkish Airlines Inc. Information Security Policy and the other relevant principles, and fulfills its duties in this area. With the TS ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security Management System it applies, the Company keeps the information of its customers, suppliers, contractors, employees, candidate employees, and all its business partners confidential, secures the same, and destroys and anonymizes the same when necessary within the framework of the national and international laws, legislations, and conventions. The Company informs employees and customers about the information security policies and procedures prepared for the employees and customers, and raises their awareness through announcements and trainings. It avoids any attempts that may constitute a crime or violation of a right in any one of its activities, and expects the employees to exercise the same diligence. Besides, it guarantees the passengers’ rights within the framework of the standards of its management system and the civil aviation regulations.

SAFE and HEALTHY WORKPLACE

The safety and health of the employees and the persons who are in the Company's working areas is more important than anything. In order to provide a safe and healthy workplace, full compliance with the Policy, the occupational health and safety laws, regulations in force, the in-house procedures, and all the other legislations is ensured. The Company identifies and eliminates the potential accident, injury, and health problem risks by communicating with the employees.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUSNESS

The Company acts by protecting the environment in all works within its area of activity to bequeath a livable world to future generations. It supports the fuel efficiency initiatives and takes measures decreasing the greenhouse gas emissions and preventing noise pollution and waste formation to decrease and eliminate the factors that may worsen the climate change. It targets to minimize its emissions to air, water, and soil as well as its wastes through energy-saving and environment-friendly technologies by using the resources efficiently. In this context, it trains the employees to raise their awareness.

IMPLEMENTATION PRINCIPLES

The Company and all its internal and external stakeholders including its employees, customers, suppliers, contractors, and business partners follow this Policy, and the Company also implements and supports its relevant procedures and checks in compliance with the requirements of this Policy. The principles set out in the Policy are based on the Business Ethics and Code of Conduct Manual (“Code of Ethics”). All the internal and external stakeholders mentioned above must comply with the applicable law and the principles of the Business Ethics and Code of Conduct Manual (“Code of Ethics”) in full. In the event that any provision of the contracts made with the third parties conflicts with the principles of this Policy and/or the Business Ethics and Code of Conduct Manual (“Code of Ethics”), the principles of this Policy and/or the Business Ethics and Code of Conduct Manual (“Code of Ethics”) shall apply.
In case of any conflict between the legislations applicable in the countries of operation and this Policy in terms of the laws, traditions, and practices, the questions on the matter or any potential violation of this Policy must be reported and consulted with their manager or the Office of Chief Human Resources Officer by the employee immediately. Besides, the employee may report the same by sending an e-mail to tkethics@kpmg.com.tr. For the anonymous reports, an application can be made to the Ethics Helpline through tkethics.com. In case of the third party violations, such violations can be reported through the contact person or the Company’s ethical violation reporting channel tkethics@kpmg.com.tr.
Any violation of this Policy by an employee may cause significant disciplinary penalty including also the discharge penalty. In case of violation by any third party who must act in compliance with this Policy, the validity of the contract between that third party and the Company is reconsidered.
