What You Need to Know

Sports equipment is accepted only as checked baggage and can be transported in the aircraft’s cargo hold.
Each set of sports equipment is limited to a maximum of 23 kilograms. If the item or set exceeds the 23 kg limit, it will be considered a second set of equipment and subject to a sports equipment fee.
During the reservation process, you must inform the relevant staff regarding the dimensions of your sports equipment. The equipment must be packed in a special bag to prevent damage and must not be loaded onto the baggage carousel during the check-in process.
Sports equipment must be packed separately from standard checked baggage and must not contain any personal items.
An additional fee of EUR 30 is applied to all sports equipment belonging to passengers making stopovers at stations outside Türkiye.
Sports equipment not specified on our website is subject to a separate charge on our flights.
One set of golf clubs can be transported free of charge on international flights until December 31, 2026 (inclusive).
On international flights, one set of ski/snowboard equipment can be transported free of charge until December 31, 2026 (inclusive), included in the checked baggage allowance stated on the passenger's ticket.
On all network flights, tennis, squash, and badminton equipment (maximum one set) [total dimensions must not exceed 118 cm (width + length + height)] can be carried in the cabin in special bags as cabin baggage. If the equipment set cannot be transported as cabin baggage, it is included in the checked baggage allowance.
For all network departures (excluding Türkiye, Antalya, Alanya (Gazipaşa), Adana, Kayseri, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and Nevşehir, and on the return leg of these trips (only on flights operated by Turkish Airlines, not including interline flights), we will transport one bicycle free of charge until December 31, 2026 (inclusive). If more than one piece of equipment is transported, special fees for sports equipment apply.

Carrying sports equipment is subject to a charge on domestic flights: The fee to transport 1 piece of sports equipment is 500 TRY. On flights to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the fee is 700 TRY.

International flight fees for transporting targets, rifles and pistols used for sports purposes are listed on the special fees page.

Regulations concerning the transportation of firearms may vary depending on the nation. Firearms are collected by security personnel at the airport entrance and then handed over to aircraft security officers for loading onto the aircraft as checked baggage. Check-in procedures are conducted at the D1-D2 Licensed Firearm Registration Counter. At this counter, the firearms are registered and baggage tags for the items are issued. Passengers then submit the issued baggage tags at the firearm drop-off counter located in the airport.

In accordance with the Transportation Security Program (TSP), the transportation of weapons, including hunting rifles, is not permitted on Turkish Airlines’ direct flights to or from Australia. Thank you for your understanding.
