The center of Mevlevi Order

Serving as the center Mevlevi teaching for centuries, Mevlana Lodge was transformed into a museum later. Once upon a time, this was a rose garden of the Seljuq Palace. Home to Mevlana’s tomb as well, Mevlana Museum is located at Konya city center. Works, manuscripts and musical instruments belonging toMevlana and Mevlevi Order are exhibited in the Museum.

The importance of Mevlana Museum

Tolerance, love and self-awareness lie at the center of Mevlana Jalal ad-Din Rumi’s philosophy extending beyond borders At the Mevlana Week beginning on December 17 each year, Seb-i Arus ceremonies are organized in Konya. These ceremonies conducted around Mevlana Museum transform into an impressive celebration with sounds of reed flutes and Sama. You can visit the museum containing more than 4,000 manuscripts every day of the week.

The history of Mevlana Museum

The Seljuq Sultan of Rum, Alaeddin Keykubad, gifted the palace’s rose garden to Mevlana's father Sultanu'l-Ulema Baha ud-Din Walad. Built following Mevlâna’s passing, became an Islamic social complex with various additions such as Sama House and masjid. Serving as the center Mevlevi teaching until 1925, Mevlana Lodge was transformed into a museum later.
