“UNESCO Türkiye Series” Travel Kit Collection Reflecting Türkiye’s Rich Cultural Heritage

With the mission of offering a unique travel experience, we are bringing Türkiye’s unique cultural richness to the skies. Our new amenity kit collection, served under the name “UNESCO Türkiye Series” in economy class on flights over 8 hours, is inspired by six iconic locations from Türkiye’s UNESCO World Heritage List and four unique Ebru designs.
This special collection has been developed in collaboration with the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO, aiming not only to provide passengers with a comfortable travel experience but also to showcase Türkiye’s historical and cultural values on the global stage.

Miniature: A Journey Through History with the Fine Lines of Turkish Art

Miniature art, a branch of traditional Turkish arts, represents the book arts genre. Developed as a means of visually conveying information, miniature art remains captivating with its distinctive style and proportions. From city plans and historical scenes to illustrations of medicinal plants and architectural designs, miniatures illuminate the history of global knowledge.

TThis series showcases Türkiye’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Mount Nemrut, Göbeklitepe, Cappadocia, Ephesus , Ani and Troy, through miniature art, offering our passengers a cultural journey.

Ebru: The Ancient Art of Dancing on Water

Dating back to the early centuries AD, the art of Ebru is a decorative art brought to Anatolia by the Turks migrating from Central Asia. It involves dropping natural paints of different colors onto water to create unique designs, as no two Ebru artworks are identical. Natural dyes derived from colorful soil and plants are used. For centuries, Ebru artists have carefully used traditional materials, with brushes made from horsehair and rosewood.

Initially used to adorn the margins of handmade books, Ebru gained popularity worldwide. Rare books in Europe’s oldest libraries often feature Ebru designs. By incorporating Ebru, a protected cultural heritage on Türkiye’s UNESCO list, into our comfort kits and embellishing them with works by master artists, we aim to offer passengers a gift that reminds them of this ancient art.

Sustainability

As Turkish Airlines, we are deeply committed to reducing our environmental impact and creating a more sustainable future. In line with this mission, we continuously seek innovative ways to minimize our footprint and support meaningful sustainability initiatives.

In this context, our new bags are made with recycled materials while the comfort items contain over 50% post-consumer recycled plastic. The new toothbrush uses renewable and compostable wheat straw. Additionally, we have removed the single use plastic packaging for earplugs, instead opting for a recycled FSC certified kraft paper pouch.
